My Contemplative Piece

A little over 4 months ago, I was sitting at home in front of the TV, thinking to myself "I'm such a blob." Compared to my 130 pound wife, I really was a monstrosity and more than just a bit of a glutton. I ate too much, exercised too little, and thought nothing of it. I worked a job that had me doing nothing all the time, and I came home only to do nothing again. It made me fat, and I honestly don't know how my own wife put up with me. Despite this, I found that there was an answer to my problems. It was by chance when I saw an ad online for an hcg diet. Of course I was skeptical at first--who wouldn't be at the prospect of losing so much weight. However, I put my doubts aside to try something that was life changing, and it was. Now I weigh exactly 161 pounds and have lost over 110 pounds in the course of four months. I bike, weight lift, swim, and job like I did in highschool and college. The feeling is wonderful. There are a few people I would like to thank for helping me through this, and here they are:
• My Wife: She knew I would succeed and always stuck with me. She's a blessing and a wonderful spouse.
• Rick: He's my boss at the design firm I work for, and he dieted for over a year to gain 70 pounds. He thought the diet would work and was there to give me sound exercise advice.
• My coworkers: To the guys who work out with me, it's been great have motivation and company in the journey!
• Radiant MedSpa/Seattle HCG Diet Weight Loss: I didn't believe in the diet at first, but you guys made me a fan. Without the friendly staff there, I would never have made it to 160 pounds. Thanks guys!
That's pretty much it people. This is my weight loss journey. I now know that no matter what you weigh or what you believe, you can in fact lose weight. Good luck everyone!

Waking up to smell the coffee. . .

It's Saturday and I can finally take a deep breath now! Work was busy between Tuesday and Friday, and I hardly had a moment where I wasn't working on something, so I wasn't able to work out Thursdays as I like to. That's okay, though. I plan on going biking today. I'm sitting here this morning with a cup of coffee. I'm starting to cheat on the diet just a little bit because I know I am pretty much done with it now. I'm at 167 (I lost another 4 pounds), and I will quit around 160. I've put on a lot of muscle, so there is no reason to try and go below that. Any more is just foolishness! I already look great--I actually look like I belong with my petite wife, and she thinks I'm quite the stud now with weight lifting and such. ]:D We're planning a getaway for a few days up at Leavenworth this winter around Christmas time. It's a great break from the hectic Christmas season, and it's going to be a really nice to spend some more time together.

New Week, More Working Out!

I went in for a radiant visit today. I am still a little sore from my crazy mountain biking ride, but it went well and I have lost 6 pounds, making my weight 171. Needless to say, I am pretty psyched about it (a little teenage lingo there). I'm going to stop here in about a week and a half. I've come a long ways from my 280 pound self. 109 pounds to be exact. All I can say is I owe it all to the hcg diet. It's been fantastic, and I've decided that as my last post, I am going to write a
"memorial" post, if you will, including a thank you sheet with all the people that helped me succeed. We'll see how that goes. I am going to the gym to work out for a bit this afternoon, too. I want to run a couple miles and lift some weights. What I usually do it lift first because that is what takes a lot of energy when you are pushing yourself. I then eat an orange or something and run my couple miles. It has been going really well. I feel so much better that I am sure I won't have a problem keeping the weight off once I am done with the diet. I will probably be running every other day at the very least.

Riding the Mountain = Adenaline + Weight Loss

Today was good. I work half days on Thursday every once in a while, and I took this as an opportunity to abandon golf for the afternoon and instead try ride my mountain biking more. I had a friend take me up to a trail called Tiger Mountain, which is located just a little ways away from Issaquah. The trail is fantastic, but a very long bike ride to the top where you initially start your descent. It took us three hours to get to the top, although I am sure my buddy could easily have done it in two, since I took frequent breaks while climbing the 3000 feet of vertical gravel road. Once on the trail, however, it’s all fast and fun. We spent about 2 hours riding back down to the bottom of the mountain, and it was well worth the effort to the top. I weighed myself in just a few minutes ago, and I lost another 6 pounds and am now at 177 pounds. Looks like it’s about time to throw in the towel. Two more weeks and I am calling it good!

Checked-In With My Weight!

I weighed myself in this evening at 183 pounds, so I slowed down a bit even after exercise. I am almost positive that I am going to be stopping here within a couple weeks. I am thinking that I will call it quits before the end of October, that way I don’t lose too much weight and can keep my hard earned muscle. If there is one thing that I think is just as hard as losing weight, it is gaining adequate muscle to actually look buff. It took me two years in high school to really gain some muscle, and it took me 3 and a half months to lose 100 pounds. Without using steroids, it would be impossible to build that much muscle that fast, but with hcg it’s easy to lose weight.

I also went in for my Radiant visit today, which went well. It was a pretty fast appointment today, which gave me time to work out before heading home to spend some time with the wife. She’s pretty impressed with my weight loss, and I actually look like I did when we first met. She has always been fairly petite, and I used to kinda worry that she thought I was a disgusting blob or something. Anyway, that’s not relevant. What is relevant is that I have lost a lot of weight, and that is pretty cool.

A New Bike, Old Pounds Gone

Seven more days and seven more pounds gone everyone! I am proud to say that I am officially at 185 pounds. I plan on stopping when I get to 160-170 pounds. I’ve gained so much muscle that I don’t really want to lose it, so I need to make sure that I don’t accidentally lose too much weight. : ) That’s the first time I have actually been worried about losing too much weight. I’ve gone from 280 pounds to 185. Five more pounds and I am down 100 pounds! That’s what I call amazing. The next task will be to try and gain a six pack back again. I had it when I played football, but not so much anymore. Besides that I am going to try and do more mountain biking. I got a 2007 StumpJumper that a friend was selling, and it has been a great bike so far. I also went down to the gym and ran a full 2 miles today. That’s pretty impressive if I do say so myself! The energy I now have has been so nice, and I am definitely going to keep it up even after I am done with the diet. I am hoping to at least jog every morning, so we’ll see how it goes.

Radiant Visit

I had my Radiant visit today. I went an extra week without going to Radiant since I was on vacation/had an anniversary, so I figured that I should go in as soon as possible again. I am down to 192, so I didn’t lose that fast this week at all, but I wouldn’t necessarily call that a failure by any means! As a matter of fact, I am almost back down to the weight I was 8 ½ years ago. I am hoping to lose another 20 pounds and then call it good. That should only take about another 3 weeks. We’ll see how it goes, but I am greatly anticipating the idea of being so close to my original weight again! I really can’t believe how well this diet has worked. The hardest part has been the eating restrictions, but it’s a small price to pay.

I went out and bought two new pairs of pants yesterday and a few shirts to wear with them because I have lost so much weight that I can’t wear my current clothes without looking sloppy on the job. My buddy who started the hcg diet with me admitted that he also went out and got another few pairs of clothes because he can’t fit in his other ones any more. It definitely shows the progress you are making, and it is something that, although takes a bite of my paycheck, is well worth it. Cheers guys!
